Getting a Tattoo on Your Antalya Holiday: Sun, Sea & Pool Guide
By Emy · Updated June 2026 · 5 min read
A tattoo from your trip to the Turkish Riviera is a beautiful souvenir — far better than a fridge magnet. But Antalya is a sun-and-sea city, and a fresh tattoo and a beach day are not friends. With a little planning you can have both: a clean, well-healed piece and your holiday. Here is how.
The golden rule: no sea, pool or sun on fresh ink
A new tattoo is an open wound for the first couple of weeks. Salt water, pool chlorine, sand and bacteria can cause infection and fading, and direct Mediterranean sun is brutal on healing skin. So the holiday question is really a timing question.
When to book it during your trip
- End of the holiday (most popular): get tattooed in your last day or two, enjoy the beach beforehand, and let it heal back home.
- Start of the holiday: works if you are happy to swap a few beach days for shade, loose clothing and aftercare.
- Small & fine-line pieces heal fastest and are ideal for a trip — delicate, elegant and low-trauma.
How to keep the holiday going
If you still want pool time after your session, keep the tattoo completely dry and covered — no swimming, and pat it dry immediately if it gets splashed. Stay in the shade, wear loose cotton over the area, and never put sunscreen on an unhealed tattoo (only once it has closed). Drinking water and avoiding alcohol on the day of your session also helps your skin take the ink well.
Book ahead — season fills fast
Antalya is busy from spring to autumn, and good artists are booked well in advance. Message me before or early in your trip with your idea, rough size and the dates you are here, and we will find the right slot. Custom designs are drawn for you after a short consultation — no flash sheets, no repeats.

Plan it on WhatsAppFrequently asked questions
Can I swim in the sea after getting a tattoo on holiday?
Not until it is fully healed — usually at least two weeks. Salt water, pool chemicals and bacteria can damage fresh ink, so plan the tattoo for the end of your trip or keep it dry and covered.
When is the best time during my holiday to get a tattoo?
Near the end if you want to keep swimming, or in the first days if you can follow aftercare. Either way, book in advance — good artists fill up in season.
How do I protect a new tattoo from the Antalya sun?
Keep a fresh tattoo out of direct sun completely. Once healed, always use a high-SPF sunscreen — strong Mediterranean UV is the fastest way to fade a tattoo.
